Hartford, CT - Today, Governor Ned Lamont, the Connecticut Congressional Delegation, and Education Commissioner Charlene Russell-Tucker announced the release of more than $4.5 million in funding for 48 school districts and summer camp programs across Connecticut that will be used to support the delivery of mental health services for students during the summer months over a three-year period.

Washington, D.C. - Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) co-sponsored new legislation led by House Democrats to further lower prescription drug prices for American families: the Lowering Drug Costs for American Families Act. This legislation builds on consumer price protections Democrats passed last year in the Inflation Reduction Act that empower Medicare to negotiate the price of prescription drugs for seniors by making those lower prices available to those on private health insurance. It also reins in pharmaceutical price gouging.

Larson (CT-01) highlighted the need for Congress to act on the debt ceiling as Republicans plan to hold the economy hostage until they get cuts to essential programs, including Medicaid and SNAP nutrition benefits. Larson also questioned hearing witness, Dr. Rick Gilfillan who is the Former Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation Director and former CEO of Trinity Health, about health care transparency measures to improve patient understanding and outcomes.
