East Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut Congressional delegation announced their offices will host an informational session for Connecticut high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors to learn more about the process to apply for the Military Service Academies.

The info session will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the East Hartford Cultural Community Center located at 50 Chapman Place, East Hartford.

Hartford, CT - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) joined members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation, Governor Ned Lamont, and Connecticut Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto in applauding the announcement made today by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) that U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has approved the release of $3 million in “quick release” Emergency Relief funds for the Connecticut Department of Transportation to help offset the costs with reconstructing the Fairfield Avenue Bridge over Interstate 95 in Norwalk, which was severely damaged in a motor vehicle collision on Thursday, May 2.

Hartford, CT - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) joined Representatives Jim Himes, Rosa DeLauro, Joe Courtney, and Jahana Hayes and U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy in writing a letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) supporting the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (CTDOT) request for assistance following yesterday’s events in which a tanker fire damaged Interstate-95 (I-95) and the Fairfield Avenue bridge in Norwalk. The damage will result in the closure of the major northeast transportation corridor for at least several days.

Larson (CT-01) highlighted the need to strengthen Social Security with Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, and commended President Biden for laying out a plan in his budget to enhance benefits for the first time in more than 50 years by ‘scrapping the cap’ on income above $400,000 a year.

Washington, D.C. - Today, House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee Ranking Member John B. Larson (CT-01) and Worker and Family Support Subcommittee Ranking Member Danny K. Davis (IL-07) called for stronger protections for beneficiaries in a letter to Commissioner Martin O’Malley on the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) proposed rule to expand its use of commercial electronic payroll data to administer the Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability programs.
