Hartford, CT – As June marks the start of Great Outdoors Month, the Connecticut Congressional Delegation announced that the U.S. Department of Interior has awarded a $3.94 million grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). The funding will help improve local public parks and outdoor recreation access for Connecticut residents.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for H.R. 7688, The Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act. This bill would allow the president to issue an Energy Emergency Proclamation, making it unlawful to increase gas and home energy prices in an exploitative way and give the Federal Trade Commission the power to issue penalties for price gouging.
Washington, D.C. – Connecticut leaders on Wednesday announced that the state will receive $50 million for Fiscal Year 2022 to help lower-income families lower their utility bills with energy efficient upgrades. This expanded funding, which is enabled by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will allow Connecticut to retrofit thousands of low-incomes homes to make them healthier and more energy efficient while lowering utility bills.
Three House Democrats introduced a bill last week to provide Americans with monthly direct payments through 2022 — or, at least, while prices remain exceptionally high.
Reps. Mike Thompson of California, Lauren Underwood of Illinois, and John Larson of Connecticut unveiled the plan. It would provide $100 monthly checks to individuals and $200 to couples while the national gas price average is $4 a gallon or above. Households would also be able to claim another extra $100 for each dependent they claimed on their tax returns.
