HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A nonprofit in Hartford is getting $500,000 from the federal government in attempt to prevent juvenile crime.

“Our Piece of the Pie” provides comprehensive support services to people between the ages of 14 and 24 to help them meet their goals and prevent juvenile crime. The funding will help the group with educational and job training opportunities.

Larson (CT-01) announced $550,000 in federal funding for Our Piece of the Pie, Inc. to connect youth in Greater Hartford with educational and job training opportunities. Larson secured this new funding as part of a government funding package that passed the House in January.

Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut Congressional delegation sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Education, demanding a reversal of the Trump Administration’s proposed student loan cuts which would exclude nursing from “professional” graduate-level degrees, cutting the available federal student loans to nursing students in half compared to “professional” degrees.
