Washington, D.C. - Last night, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) congratulated the East Hartford High School girls basketball team on the House floor for winning their first state championship. The East Hartford Hornets defeated Wilton, with a final score of 54-33, in the Class LL State Finals at Mohegan Sun on March 20th. 

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act, which will decriminalize cannabis at the federal level, expunge the records of those harmed by cannabis criminalization, and create opportunities for all to participate in the legal cannabis industry. 

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $3.7 million grant to Community Solutions International, Inc., New York, New York, for renovation of its Swift Factory business incubator in Hartford, Connecticut. This grant is funded by the American Rescue Plan.

Washington, D.C. – Connecticut leaders on Wednesday announced that the state will receive $50 million for Fiscal Year 2022 to help lower-income families lower their utility bills with energy efficient upgrades. This expanded funding, which is enabled by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will allow Connecticut to retrofit thousands of low-incomes homes to make them healthier and more energy efficient while lowering utility bills.

Hartford, CT – Capital Workforce Partners (CWP) today announced that the organization has received $595,418 in federal funds to support their Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (BEST Chance) program. The BEST Chance Program is an initiative that provides manufacturing, construction carpentry and culinary training for Returning Citizens with an emphasis on 18–24-year-olds in the Hartford area. The new funding will support up to 50 individuals with career services, workforce training, job placement, and support services.
