Larson (CT-01) introduced a resolution this week along with Congressman Peter King (R-NY) calling for the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize the election, inspirational statements and actions of Pope Francis. Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina was elected Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church on March 13, 2013, and is the first Pope of the Americas. Over 120 Members of Congress have currently joined in the resolution, H. Res. 440.
