January 6, 2012

(Hartford, CT) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Congressmen John B. Larson (CT-01) and Joe Courtney (CT-02) today announced that Pratt & Whitney has secured a $194 million contract from the U.S. Navy related to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) engine. The funding will be used for the advance acquisition of long lead components, parts, and materials required for the delivery of 37 propulsion systems.

(Hartford, CT) - Today, the Connecticut Congressional Delegation announced over $51 million dollars in disaster relief funds for the Connecticut Department of Transportation in the wake of both Hurricane Irene and the October snowstorm. Two separate grants were awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Emergency Relief Program and will go toward repair and reconstruction of roads that were damaged as a result of the storms.

HARTFORD – This morning Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) called for a new, fair agreement for the 2,000-plus building cleaners represented by local 32BJ of the Service Employees International union of the greater Hartford and New Haven areas.

With the last day of scheduled talks between the workers and the Hartford Area Cleaning Contractors Association scheduled for today, Congressman Larson urged both sides come to an agreement before the current contract expires on December 31.
