Larson Votes for Disaster Relief Act

June 3, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after the House approved the Senate-amended supplemental appropriations for $19.1 billion in disaster aid. The relief package includes roughly $1.4 billion of additional funding for Puerto Rico.

"Over 3,000 people in Puerto Rico lost their lives in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria due to inadequate resources. After months of inaction on the Senate's part, I'm glad we were finally able to approve this much needed disaster relief funding. In the past year since Congress approved the last disaster aid package, natural disasters have continued to ravage communities, from floods to in the Midwest, to the wildfires in California. When it comes to disaster relief funding, politics should always be put aside to do what is right," said Larson.

Larson previously called for action on the House-passed bill in May.
