Washington - Following the vote to authorize funding for the training and arming of moderate Syrian rebels to combat ISIL, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement:

“No matter how targeted the decision to train and arm moderate rebels in Syria, any action taken in isolation misconstrues the larger responsibility of Congress.

I voted no because furthering what may become a costly, complex, and open-ended military engagement without an exit strategy is wrongheaded.

Larson (CT-01), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Joe Courtney (CT-02), Jim Himes (CT-04), and Elizabeth Esty (CT-05) condemned the violence in Ukraine, calling for a peaceful solution to the current crisis. All five Members are cosponsors of House Resolution 447, supporting the democratic and European aspirations of the people of Ukraine and urging continued collaboration between the United States and the European Union.

Washington – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) joined over 100 Members of Congress in a bipartisan letter to the American Studies Association (ASA) opposing their recent boycott of Israel. In December, the ASA voted in favor of a resolution to boycott all Israeli academic institutions and universities.
