Funding Freeze
On Monday, January 27th, the Trump Administration released a memo from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) outlining a federal funding freeze for a broad swath of programs. The memo was severely lacking in specifics and sowed great confusion among federal agencies, state and local governments, grant recipients, and the general public. Here is a fact sheet compiled by Congresswoman DeLauro summarizing the effects of the funding freeze.
Congressman Larson stood in support of our state Attorney General William Tong in his lawsuit against the Trump Administration to stop this unlawful and reckless pause in federal funding. Click here to read the Congressman’s statement on Tuesday.
Quickly after the lawsuit was filed, a federal judge put a pause on the Trump Administration’s funding freeze. And on Wednesday afternoon, the Trump Administration revoked the funding freeze memo. However, the White House press secretary later put out a statement saying they were still freezing federal funds, raising further questions and continuing to foster confusion among the American public.
