WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) joined with 124 Democratic colleagues to send a letter to Speaker John Boehner stressing the importance of protecting the essential operating budget of the Social Security Administration (SSA).
H.R.1, the Republican spending bill passed by the House, cut the SSA's operating budget by $1.7 billion below the level needed to maintain basic service to the public.
In reference to the letter Larson said:
"We stand ready to work with our Republican colleagues to cut spending; but we have to do it without sacrificing jobs, our kids' education and our safety"
