Larson Votes to End Double-Taxation of CT Residents

December 19, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the Restoring Tax Fairness for States and Localities Act, which would restore the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction that was capped by the Republican Tax Law in 2017.

"The Restoring Tax Fairness for States and Localities Act will end the double-taxation of Connecticut residents and families. 83 percent of the benefits from the 2017 Republican Tax Law went to the nation's wealthiest 1 percent. At the same time it caused Connecticut's middle-class families' taxes to go up because it capped the State and Local Tax Deduction at $10,000. On average, Connecticut residents were deducting $19,500 a year in state and local taxes. I'm proud to vote today to reverse this outrageous policy," said Larson.

The bill was reported out of the Ways and Means Committee last week.
