Larson Opens Application Period for Community Project Funding, Fights Back Against Harmful Republican Cuts to Program
Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) announced his office is accepting Fiscal Year 2024 Community Funding Project applications.
“Through the Community Project Funding program, I’m proud to have secured nearly $40 million last year for initiatives across the First District that directly respond to community needs,” said Larson. “These projects include local efforts to support victims of gun violence, move infrastructure projects forward, and provide community members with resources like workforce training. My office is now accepting applications from communities and organizations for Fiscal Year 2024, and I invite all interested parties to apply.
“I am strongly opposed to new restrictions imposed by the House Republican majority, which would have prevented many projects awarded in the past from receiving funding, including gun violence prevention initiatives, as well as efforts to improve financial literacy and increase civic education. There should be bipartisan agreement that these are critical issues that can best be addressed by community members on the ground. For Republicans to pay lip service to empowering local communities and then add arbitrary restrictions that prevent them from receiving funding, they are showing the American people that their real priority is grandstanding,” Larson continued.
“I commend Rep. DeLauro for leading a bipartisan process during her tenure as Chair of the Appropriations Committee that supported thousands of projects sponsored by members on both sides of the aisle. I stand with Rep. DeLauro and the entire Connecticut delegation as we work to ensure Community Project Funding continues to meet the needs of communities across our state and nation,” Larson concluded.
The deadline to apply for Community Project Funding through Rep. Larson’s office is March 15th. At Rep. Larson’s website, interested organizations can learn more about this year’s process and how to apply.
