July 12, 2019
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act.

“This year’s National Defense Authorization Act bolsters our national security and continues to invest in the First District’s strong defense manufacturing ecosystem. As co-chair Joint Strike Fighter Caucus, I have led the fight for continued production of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The bill secures authorization for 90 fighter jets that will support over 7,000 jobs across almost 40 suppliers in the First District. These fifth-generation fighter jets give our men and women overseas the best technology and protection in world to keep them safe as they serve our nation,” said Larson. “I would like to thank Seapower and Projection Forces subcommittee Chairman Joe Courtney (CT-02) for his steadfast leadership in fighting for Connecticut’s priorities here in Congress.”

Highlights of Connecticut's defense manufacturing priorities:

  • $8.5 billion to purchase 90 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters (12 more than the President’s Budget Request)
