Larson, IRS Officials Highlight Direct Benefits in American Rescue Plan
Hartford, CT – Yesterday, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01), was joined by Ken Corbin (Commissioner of the Wage & Investment Division and Chief Taxpayer Experience Officer for the Internal Revenue Service) for an event to highlight the direct benefits made possible by the American Rescue Plan and to answer questions on how people can access the benefits. The American Rescue Plan includes direct stimulus checks to Americans, an expansion of the Child Tax Credit for Families, an expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit, and more. “The American Rescue plan includes countless number of provisions that directly help American families and our challenge is to make sure families across the state and country know what these benefits are and how to apply for them,” said Larson. “Our office has been inundated with calls from residents on the struggles many people are having accessing their stimulus checks. I was so grateful to have Ken Corbin from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) provide resources and answer questions to help people get the relief they need and deserve. If anyone in the First District needs assistance, they can call our office at 860-278-8888 and we will reach out to the IRS on your behalf.”
“In Connecticut alone there have been over 676,000 payments distributed to date for the 3rd round, totaling about $1.3 billion dollars. That is critical money helping people to pay their rent, their food, or even their college tuition,” said Corbin. “To ensure that all of the benefits of the American Rescue Plan are made available to the most vulnerable populations and to all taxpayers it’ll take all of us coming together to talk about how these benefits are designed to help our economy and our taxpayers.”
