Larson, Bronin to Hold Press Conference Prior to President’s Remarks

Washington, D.C. - Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) announced thathe has invited Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin as his Virtual Guest to the State of the Union.

The State of the Union Address will highlight the achievements and work still to be done under the leadership of President Biden. While safety protocols mean this year's in-person attendance will be limited, Larson invited Mayor Bronin as his virtual guest. Larson and Bronin will hold a virtual press conference on March 1st at 4:30 PM prior to the State of the Union.

"Our country has made tremendous strides this past year thanks to the American Rescue Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The pandemic turned everyone's lives upside down, but thanks to the work of House Democrats and President Biden our communities are on the road to recovery. None of this would be possible without the partnership of our local leaders. I am thrilled to have Mayor Bronin as my virtual guest. He has used Hartford's American Rescue Plan funding to help local businesses, support children's programs, and expand COVID testing to Hartford's residents. He has been a true leader during this crisis, and I thank him for joining me tomorrow," said Larson.

"The last two years have been among the most challenging in our city's history, and we're fortunate to have had the leadership and partnership of the Biden-Harris administration, along with Congressman Larson and our congressional delegation. They helped lift millions of children out of poverty with the Child Tax Credit. They passed the most important infrastructure bill in generations. They provided relief to small businesses battered by the pandemic. And they passed a historic relief bill, which makes it possible for local communities to invest in our young people, support small businesses, and help our community as a whole recover, reconnect, and heal from the damage and disruption of the pandemic. As Mayor, I'm grateful to have federal leaders like President Biden and Congressman Larson, who listen to what communities need, and then partner together to get things done," said Mayor Luke Bronin, who plans to watch the speech from Hartford.
