Larson Congratulates Rep. Joe Courtney on Investiture as Honorary Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) congratulated his dear friend and colleague, Rep. Joe Courtney (CT-02), for receiving investiture as an Honorary Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia.
“Joe Courtney is a champion for Connecticut and has worked hard to strengthen the United States’ relationship with Australia while bolstering our sea power,” said Larson. “I was thrilled to attend his investiture at the Australian Embassy last week, where he was recognized as one of the few Americans to ever receive this high civilian honor. He celebrated his accomplishment surrounded by his wife, family, friends, colleagues, and our Australian partners, and as one of the most sincere, genuine, and hardworking Members of Congress, this is an award he richly deserves. I am proud to call him a colleague and a dear friend and value his steadfast leadership on the Armed Forces Committee, where he looks out for the servicemembers who call Connecticut home, and as Chair of the Friends of Australia Caucus, Rep. Courtney has played a critical role to promote the historic AUKUS security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. I look forward to continuing to work together with him, who we will now refer to as ‘Sir Two-Sub,' to deliver for our state and strengthen U.S.-Australian relations.”
