Larson Congratulates Connecticut Resident and Former Staffer Holly Canevari on Appointment as Deputy TSA Administrator

September 11, 2023

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) congratulated Holly Canevari on her appointment by President Biden to be Deputy Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

“I want to congratulate Deputy Administrator Canevari on her well-deserved appointment,” said Larson. “With her deep knowledge and experience in aviation and homeland security policy, there is nobody more well-positioned to oversee TSA operations and help manage our nation’s surface transportation security. When I was first elected to Congress, Holly came with me to Washington, D.C. to serve as an adviser on some of the most important issues facing my constituents and went on to serve in both the private sector and Obama Administration, where she helped lead the effort to authorize critical Department of Homeland Security programs. Because of her wealth of knowledge and deep commitment to our nation, I know that Holly will serve the staff of the Transportation Security Administration and American people well in her new role, just as she did for Connecticut’s First Congressional District so many years ago.”

Deputy Administrator Canevari served as Rep. Larson’s Legislative Assistant and Director of Legislative Projects from 1999-2001, before going on to serve in the offices of Rep. Jane Harman from 2005-2007 and for the House Committee on Homeland Security under Chairman Bennie G. Thompson from 2007-2010.

Canevari was the Chief of Staff for the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Policy during the Obama Administration and served in the private sector at United Technologies, the Software Alliance, and CGI Federal. She was the TSA Chief of Staff since March 2021, before her appointment as Deputy Administrator.
