Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) and Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy announced a resolution honoring the 100th anniversary of Pratt & Whitney. Since Pratt & Whitney’s founding in 1925, the company has become a global leader in the design, manufacture, and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units for military, commercial, and civil aviation customers. Today, the company supports more than 90,000 in-service engines. In addition to Larson, the resolution is co-sponsored by members of the Connecticut House delegation, including Reps. Joe Courtney (CT-02), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Jim Himes (CT-04), and Jahana Hayes (CT-05).
“I am thrilled to partner with the entire Connecticut delegation to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Pratt & Whitney,” said Larson. “Their incredible team of machinists and engineers produce the most dependable engines in the world, including the F135. Both my mother and father worked at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, where they saw our community transform into a beacon of innovation and the arsenal for democracy. I salute Pratt & Whitney for 100 years of excellence. We will continue to work together to keep the eagle flying here in Connecticut for years to come!”
“Pratt & Whitney and their skilled, dedicated defense workers play a vital role in our country’s national defense, while supporting hundreds of suppliers in our state. Their leadership and legacy cements Connecticut’s position as an innovative leader in the aerospace industry,” said Blumenthal. “Today, I’m proud to celebrate Pratt & Whitney for their continued success and to honor the commitment of their hard-working employees.”
“Over the past century, Pratt & Whitney has embodied Connecticut ingenuity,” said Murphy. “From the beginning, they charted out new paths in aviation technology, delivering innovation that powered the Allies to victory, made our country safer, and built up an enduring industrial base for Connecticut. I’m proud to celebrate one hundred years of Pratt & Whitney’s designers, builders, engineers, and technicians. They represent the very best of America and continue to make Connecticut proud.”
