Larson Applauds FAA Announcement of $1.8 Million to Develop Low-Emission Aviation Fuel Technologies in Windsor Locks and East Hartford

September 4, 2024

East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) applauded the FAA’s announcement of $1,867,500 in federal funding to support the development of sustainable aviation fuel at Hamilton Sundstrand in Windsor Locks and East Hartford.

“I worked with my colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee and the entire Connecticut delegation to pass the largest-ever investment to combat climate change,” said Larson. “Through the Inflation Reduction Act, we created new incentives to reduce emissions and authorized record funding to accelerate the development of carbon-free energy. I am thrilled to see nearly $2 million coming home to Windsor Locks and East Hartford to develop new technologies and support good-paying jobs in our communities that will move the aviation sector toward 100% sustainable fuels. Whether it’s wind, solar, hydrogen, or other sustainable fuel sources, Connecticut businesses and workers are developing clean energy solutions that will power our future.”

Funding for the Fueling Aviation’s Sustainable Transition (FAST) program was authorized by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, investing $291 million in 36 projects across the country to accelerate the development of low-emission aviation fuels.
