Larson Announces Promotion of Long-Time Staff and Additions

Washington, D.C. – Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) announced the promotion of long-time staffers, Scott Stephanou, Maureen Moriarty, Conor Quinn, and the addition of Nancy Powers Perry, as a Senior Policy Advisor, to his staff. Stephanou will serve as the Chief of Staff for Larson's Washington, D.C. office and Moriarty as the Chief of Staff of Larson's Hartford Office. Quinn will serve as the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Hartford office. Lisa Perrone has been promoted to a Senior District Aide in Larson's Hartford office. Additionally, Mary Yatrousis has been promoted to Communications Director and Kevin Rivera has been brought on as a Press Assistant in Larson's Hartford office.

"Scott Stephanou is recognized on the Hill and by his peers as one of the most knowledgeable policy experts. He has served in several capacities in our office and most recently as Legislative Director. He is eminently qualified to take on the responsibilities of Chief of Staff in my Washington office. I could not be prouder of this native of the First District, hailing from Manchester," said Larson.

"I am also extremely proud to announce the promotion of Maureen Moriarty and Conor Quinn. Maureen has been with me throughout my entire career in Congress. From starting her political career with Senator John Glenn, to her involvement in Connecticut politics, she has always been an invaluable resource to me and my office, and I know she will continue to be in her new role.

"Conor Quinn has done an outstanding job of reaching out to our local communities and working hard for the constituencies in Connecticut's First District. I am excited to see him in his new role as Deputy Chief of Staff of our Hartford office.

"I'm very excited to have Nancy Powers Perry join my Washington Office, as well. Nancy has an in-depth knowledge of many issues concerning people in the First District, including Social Security, health care and retirement security. Her previous work on and off the Hill speaks volumes of her skills, and we are extremely lucky to have her join our team.

"Lisa has been a great advocate and fighter for the people in Connecticut's First District, and I'm honored to have her continuing to work for our office in her new role," said Larson.

"As a native of Manchester, I can't think of a greater privilege than working for Congressman Larson for the last 10 years. Day in and day out, he is a forceful champion for the people of the First District and I am excited to take on this new role in the Washington office," said Stephanou.

"For the past 20 years, Congressman Larson has made it a priority to provide the highest level of constituent services to the people in the First Congressional District and I look forward to continuing to guide our office in maintaining this commitment," said Moriarty.

"Working for Congressman Larson and the people of Connecticut's First Congressional District has been an honor and a privilege. As a lifelong resident of the district, I take great pride in the services our office provides to this region. I look forward to continuing my service to the Congressman and his constituents in this new role," said Quinn.

"I am thrilled to return to the Hill to work for Congressman Larson and look forward to assisting him with his important work as the author of the Social Security 2100 Act and as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee to ensure that Social Security benefits are protected for years to come and expanded so that no senior lives in poverty," said Powers Perry.

"Serving the people of Connecticut's First District has been an honor, I look forward to continuing to do so in my new role," said Perrone.

Stephanou is a native of Manchester, CT, and has worked with Larson for 10 years. He most recently served as his Legislative Director. He graduated from Quinnipiac University with a degree in political Science.

Moriarty lives in West Hartford, CT, and is originally from East Hartford, CT. She has worked with Larson for 20 years, having most recently served as his Constituent Services Director and District Director. She is a graduate of the University of Hartford.

Quinn is from West Hartford, CT, and has worked with Larson for 12 years. He most recently served as his Director of Constituent Services. He graduated from Assumption College with a degree in political science.

Powers Perry lives in Washington, DC and has worked in government and government relations for more than 30 years. She previously worked for two House Ways and Means Committee members, Rep. Jim McDermott and Rep. Michael A. Andrews in addition to serving in government relations for a national trade association, nonprofit organizations, and Fortune 500 companies at the federal, state and local levels. She received her law degree from Catholic University and undergraduate degree from Duke University. Powers Perry lived in Connecticut while her father worked for the US Coast Guard Academy.

Perrone is a native of Connecticut. She originally worked as the field coordinator in the five way primary to get Congressman Larson elected to Congress and has been working for the office for 20 years specializing in Medicare and Social Security issues. Prior to her current vocation she worked for the House Democrats in the General Assembly. She is a graduate of Drexel University.

Yatrousis is a Wethersfield, CT native and has recently joined Larson's Washington office. She previously served as Press Secretary and District Aide in Larson's Hartford office. She graduated from Boston University with a degree in Mass Communication.

Rivera is an East Hartford, CT native and has joined Larson's Hartford office as a Press Assistant and District Aide. He previously worked for Our Piece of the Pie in Hartford and is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University.
