Larson: "Aetna is a Value-Added Company for the State of Connecticut"

May 20, 2016

Hartford, CT - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement:

“Since its founding in Hartford in 1853, the Aetna has been an integral part of our community. Led by Mark Bertolini—one of the insurance industry’s boldest visionaries—the Aetna is changing the way we view insurance and receive our healthcare. I have been proud to work with Mark and his team on refocusing the health care system on quality patient-centered and coordinated care. And I have been impressed by Mark’s commitment to the Aetna workforce. It was Mark’s leadership that resulted in a $16 an hour minimum wage being established at the company and employees receiving improved health benefits.

“The Aetna has been a bedrock employer in our state and the city of Hartford. We should work constructively to ensure that they maintain that presence for years to come. We need more employers who are as committed to and supportive of our workforce. Mark's leadership is precisely what we need here in Connecticut.”
