Connecticut Congressional Delegation Statement on New $525 Million Contract for Sikorsky
Hartford, CT — Today, Reps. John B. Larson (CT-01), Joe Courtney (CT-02), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Jim Himes (CT-04), and Jahana Hayes (CT-05), and Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, announced that the United States Navy has awarded a $525,000,000 contract to Sikorsky Aircraft Corp for the development and modernization of the Y/CH-53K Heavy Lift Helicopter program.
Work will be performed in Stratford, Connecticut; Trumbull, Connecticut; and various locations within the United States and is expected to be completed by June 2031.
“Sikorsky is a nationwide leader in defense, building the finest helicopters right here in Connecticut. This $525,000,000 contract will support good-paying jobs in Connecticut, provide a boost to our local economy, and strengthen our national security. We will continue to fight for continued funding and contracts to support the thousands of skilled employees and the local manufacturing industry here in Connecticut who serve as the linchpin to Sikorsky’s success,” said the delegation.
