State, town leaders to give update on Rocky Hill apartment complex after last week’s pipe burst
ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH) — State and municipal leaders are expected to provide an update Monday on the apartment complex in Rocky Hill after hundreds were forced to evacuate following a pipe burst last week.
It is unclear what the announcement will cover, but we do know that since the pipe burst last week, five large apartment buildings at Concierge Apartments have been condemned, affecting hundreds of tenants.
Between 500 and 800 residents were put out into the cold just after midnight on Friday and forced to vacate the property and seek temporary accommodations, such as hotels.
Some residents were without heat and water for two weeks before this all happened.
The apartments are run by a $15 billion company based in California that has properties across 23 states. Congressman John Larson has called for an investigation into the landlord’s practices.
Attorney General William Tong, State Sen. Matthew Lesser, and several town officials are among those expected to make this announcement at Rocky Hill Town Hall around 1:15 p.m.
