Larson: We Must Hold the Senate Accountable

August 6, 2019

Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement:

"160 days ago, on February 27th, the House passed HR 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019, which expands background checks and closes the gun show loop hole. Since then, there have been mass shootings, homicides in our communities, and accidental shootings, yet the Senate Republicans and Mitch McConnell have done nothing. The Senate instead is in recess. The House has passed additional bills to address gun violence. We must hold the Senate accountable. Mitch McConnell must reconvene the Senate immediately. I'm calling on everyone, including the media, to continue counting the days that have passed since the House first took action. We should continue to shine a bright light on the Senate until they do their job and VOTE," said Larson.
