Larson Votes on War Powers Resolution

March 11, 2020

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the bipartisan War Powers Resolution that was approved by the Senate.

"The authorization of the use of military force under Article I Section 8 of the Constitution is Congress's responsibility. This bipartisan resolution reasserts that responsibility and prevents the President from taking unauthorized military action. Today's vote is only a first step. I urge the Senate to pass the House-passed repeal of 2002 Authorization of Use of Military Force (AUMF) that authorized the war with Iraq," said Larson.

Larson voted earlier this year for the House version of the War Powers Resolution, and to repeal the 2002 Authorization of Use of Military Force (AUMF) that authorized the war with Iraq and to prohibit any funding for war with Iran.
