Larson Votes to Terminate Emergency Declaration

February 26, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted to uphold the Constitution and terminate the President's National Emergency Declaration. Larson is an original cosponsor of H.J.Res. 46, the Joint Resolution to terminate the Emergency Declaration, which passed the House today.

"This is about Congress reasserting its Constitutional authority. We need border security and comprehensive immigration reform, but it's clear this is not a National Emergency. What is a true National Emergency in our country is the gun violence epidemic, the opioid epidemic and our global climate crisis. It's time we act to address these true emergencies, and for Congress to reassert its Constitutional authority over this executive overreach. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to do what is right and end this Emergency Declaration."
