Larson Votes to Restore Affordable Care Act Tax Credits for 20 Million Americans and Lower Costs
Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the Democrat-led bill to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits for three years, lowering costs for 20 million Americans, including more than 100,000 residents in Connecticut.
“The House finally did its job and voted to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. That’s what the American people have been demanding for months,” said Larson. “I’ve heard from constituents across my district concerned with the high cost of health care, including a constituent who would be paying more for health insurance than his mortgage without these credits. Thankfully, 17 Republicans were brave enough to join us and stand up for their constituents. The Senate must take up this bill immediately to lower costs and deliver the relief American families desperately need. Democrats will continue to fight to reverse Republicans’ cuts to health care and ensure no one has to choose between the care they need and paying the rent.”
Before Congress adjourned for the holidays, four Republicans joined Democrats’ effort to force a vote on this legislation, but Speaker Johnson postponed the vote until January, allowing the credits to expire and costs to skyrocket.
