Larson Votes to Prevent Government Shutdown

February 29, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted to extend the government funding deadline to prevent a devastating shutdown that would hurt American families.

“Today, I voted again to prevent a government shutdown,” said Larson. “Speaker Johnson and House Republicans appear to have finally reached the conclusion they should have six months ago, that the only path forward is working together with Democrats to fund the government. Yet again, this is a temporary patch, and I am hopeful that all parties will continue to work in good faith to complete Fiscal Year 2024 government funding legislation. I thank Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro and Leader Jeffries for their continued work to oppose devastating cuts and poison pills that would cut Social Security, imperil reproductive freedom, and harm LGBTQ+ Americans.”
