Larson Votes for Paycheck Fairness Act

March 27, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for Rep. Rosa DeLauro's (CT-03) Paycheck Fairness Act (HR 7), which would strengthen the 1963 Equal Pay Act and close loopholes in the law to end the wage gap. DeLauro has introduced this legislation every Congress since 1997.

"We are long overdue to close the wage gap and guarantee equal pay for equal work. That's why I'm incredibly proud to support the Paycheck Fairness Act, led by Connecticut's own Rosa DeLauro," said Larson. "In 2019, women are still only making 77 cents on average for every dollar earned by their male counterparts, and for women of color that number is even lower. Nearly 64 percent of mothers are the breadwinners of their family. It's time we end this discrepancy and fight for equal pay for equal work! The Senate should take up this commonsense and much-needed legislation immediately."
