Larson Votes to Keep Government Open, Avoid Thanksgiving Shutdown

November 14, 2023

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for H.R. 6363, legislation to extend government funding and avoid a shutdown.

“Today, I voted to keep government open and avoid a Thanksgiving shutdown that would be devastating for American families,” said Larson. “Democrats are ready to work together to responsibly fund the government, lower costs for seniors and working families, and protect our national security. As we negotiate full-year funding, I urge Speaker Johnson and House Republicans to lay off their demands to enact unpopular cuts to programs like Medicare and Social Security that will only serve to hurt everyday Americans. Congress also must act swiftly to adopt the President’s request for security assistance to Israel and Ukraine, support for Taiwan, humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza, and resources to address our nation’s border security, as well as relief for our farmers impacted by natural disasters.”
