Larson Votes for Emmett Till Antilynching Act
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the House passage of H.R 35, The Emmett Till Antilynching Act.
“The practice of lynching in America remains a dark stain on our history,” said Larson. “It is a disgrace that after thousands of tragic deaths lynching is still not a federal hate crime. Today we honor the memory of Emmett Till and all who were victims of this heinous act by categorizing it as a federal hate crime. I applaud the passage of this bill that has been long overdue.”
