Larson Votes for Comprehensive Package to Strengthen Supply Chain and American Competitiveness

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the America COMPETES Act. This is a bold legislative package that makes transformational investments in research, innovation, and American manufacturing that will ensure that America can outcompete any nation in the world, now and for decades to come.
"The America COMPETES Act invests $45 billion to improve our supply chains and ensure that our manufacturers and workers remain at the forefront of competition. Manufacturing has been a part of Connecticut's DNA for more than a century. Connecticut's high-tech manufacturing is driven by a strong dedication to innovation, and I am proud that this bill makes major investments in innovation and scientific research," said Larson.
"This bill will address supply chain issues and reduce inflation by investing $52 billion in semiconductor chip research, development, and manufacturing in the United States. Semiconductor chips are a vital input for many products we use daily and a shortage of chips has helped drive inflation. This will help ordinary families better afford everything from cars to coffee makers and bring this critical industry home to the United States," Larson continued. "As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I worked to include strong labor protections and conditions in trade, help for workers negatively impacted by trade, and provisions to fight back against the Chinese Communist Party's unfair trade practices."
"The new infrastructure law and the America COMPETES legislation are a one-two punch to help rebuild America and compete against foreign competition," said Jeff Wolcheski, Regional Business Manager, Carpenter's Local 326, representing nearly 3,000 union carpenters in Connecticut.
