Larson Votes for Bipartisan Plan to Avert Government Shutdown
Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the bipartisan Continuing Appropriations Act to extend government funding and avert a devastating shutdown.
“After attempting to fund the government by appeasing the far-right of his party with devastating cuts to our communities and commissions designed to cut Social Security and Medicare, Speaker McCarthy finally recognized that the only way to deliver for the American people is with bipartisan cooperation," said Larson. "This 45-day funding resolution will prevent a government shutdown and give Congress time to finish our work. In that time, I urge Speaker McCarthy to take today as a lesson and abandon his efforts to cut Social Security benefits and devastate needed government programs. Any future spending package must also provide the resources Ukraine needs to defend themselves against unprovoked Russian aggression."
