Larson Votes for Bipartisan Bill to Keep Government Open

September 25, 2024

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for a bipartisan continuing resolution to keep the government open through December 20th.

“Today, House Democrats acted to prevent a disastrous government shutdown that would have harmed families across the nation,” said Larson. “I am glad that Speaker Johnson finally woke up to the need for a bipartisan agreement, and I want to thank Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro for her leadership on the Appropriations Committee to prioritize the needs of the American people over Republicans’ extremist demands. When Congress returns, we must finish the job and fulfill President Biden’s request to fully fund the Social Security Administration, so it has the resources it needs to properly serve the 70 million Americans who rely on their monthly benefits without delays.”

Last week, Rep. Larson led a group of his colleagues urging House Appropriations leaders to support President Biden's request to fully fund the Social Security Administration to better address customer service delays.
