Larson Votes Against Defunding the IRS for the Wealthy

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted against Republican legislation to gut funding for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), hindering its ability to go after wealthy tax cheats and fraudsters.  

“What Republicans are proposing here is shielding the wealthiest people in this nation and corporations,” said Larson. “Democrats passed funding for the IRS to go after sophisticated tax cheats and ensure they pay their fair share. An estimated $600 billion goes uncollected every year, while working people pay their taxes every paycheck. By cutting this funding, Republicans are helping criminals skirt law enforcement, leaving hard-working Americans to foot the bill.”
