Larson Votes for 25th Amendment Resolution: Accountability is What is at Stake Here
Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the House resolution to call upon Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Trump from office.
“Over the past few weeks, President Trump has exhibited the inability to make clear decisions. I believe he is not fit to remain in office. That’s why I voted for today’s resolution urging the Vice President to invoke the 25th Amendment. This is one of the quickest ways to remove President Trump from office and have accountability. Accountability for the President’s actions is what is stake here,” said Larson.
"Last week I led a letter with 30 other colleagues to the Vice President and members of the Cabinet with the same request,” Larson continued. “We will move to impeach President Trump if Republicans do not support this effort and if the Vice President does not act. Impeachment is the only other means of accountability that we have. I applaud the House Republicans who are acting on behalf of their nation instead of their party.
“I am deeply concerned about the president’s mental state. In a piece for the Hartford Courant, Dr. Harold Schwartz, wrote about what psychiatrist's refer to as Malignant Narcissism, one of the most severe forms of personality disorders. Those suffering from Malignant Narcissism exhibit grandiose self-importance, lack of empathy, arrogance, deceitfulness, impulsiveness, consistent irresponsibility, a lack of remorse, and a willingness towards interpersonal exploitation. In the last few weeks, we have witnessed a President who is still in denial about the election results, who has fomented a coup, has tried to corruptly exploit the Georgia Secretary of State and the Vice President, and has expressed zero remorse for the consequences of his actions.”
