Larson on Veterans Day

November 11, 2015

Hartford, CT - "Today we recognize the courage and sacrifice of our nation's veterans. They put their lives on the line to secure our freedoms, and they deserve our respect and support every day of the year--not just Veterans Day.

"Only one percent of our nation serves in the military. These brave few bear the burden for us all. In return for their commitment, it is our moral imperative to ensure they have the care they need when they come home. I applaud Connecticut and Governor Dannel Malloy for ending chronic homelessness among veterans in our state. This is an inspiring accomplishment, but we cannot stop there.

"Many of our veterans came home wounded, carrying both physical and emotional scars. We must continue to address the lingering effects of post traumatic stress injuries and provide our veterans with every chance to readjust to life at home. Our veterans have served us with honor and courage. Today we remember that we must serve them too."
