Larson Statement on Violence in Israel and Gaza

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the violence in Israel and Gaza:

"Hamas has launched more than 3,000 rockets against Israel, and yet again has initiated hostilities in the region. Hamas is terrorist organization and as always, Israel has the right to defend itself against these attacks.

"I support President Biden and Secretary Blinken's efforts to stop the violence and adhere to a ceasefire in the region.

"Leaders from both sides of the conflict must get the message that they cannot drag the region back into an endless cycle of violence. There is no military solution to this crisis and ultimately, Israelis and Palestinians must work together to end the conflict and preserve a two-state solution.

"Our hearts go out to the civilians and children who are caught in this crossfire and cycle of violence. This violence must end, both sides must come to the table before more innocent lives are lost."
