Larson Statement on Updated COVID Relief Package
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the revised Heroes Act that House Democrats unveiled to provide $2.2 trillion in COVID relief.
“The revised Heroes Act is a strong step towards providing more COVID relief to Americans. 200,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 and 7 million have been infected. 26 million Americans remain unemployed. Americans need help and they need it now. They’ve already been forced to wait 130+ days since Senate Republicans blocked the first Heroes Act,” said Larson.
“The revised Heroes Act offers vital relief to state and local governments, small businesses, essential workers, students, and all Americans. The State of Connecticut and municipalities will receive an estimated nearly $5 billion in relief to continue combating the virus on the frontlines. Those who have lost their jobs will once again receive an additional $600 per week to weather this crisis and Americans will receive an additional round of needed Economic Impact payments. Small businesses and non-profits will be able to apply for additional and improved Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding. Struggling families will also be able to access bolstered housing and food assistance programs. The Senate needs to stop playing partisan politics and do its job and join the House in passing relief.”
