Larson Statement on Supreme Court Ruling

July 1, 2021

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after the Supreme Court upheld Arizona's ban on the collection of absentee ballots by anyone other than a relative or caregiver and a provision that threw out any ballots cast in the wrong precinct:

"Republican legislators across the country have launched a crusade to try and stop Americans from exercising their legal right to vote. Today's ruling double-downed on their efforts.

"The House of Representatives has already passed the For The People Act, H.R. 1, and will pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, H.R. 4, both of which would stop discriminatory and burdensome voting practices. Senate Republicans have already blocked H.R. 1 using the filibuster. It must be abolished and these laws must be enacted."
