November 22, 2025

East Hartford, CT - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the 62nd anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

This week, Rep. Larson spoke on the House floor to salute President Kennedy’s legacy. Click here to view his full remarks.

“Most people remember where they were when they first heard the news that President Kennedy had been shot,” said Larson. “It is a day that will always live in infamy – when this charismatic, affable, intelligent, and articulate leader, who connected with the people of our nation and around the globe – was taken from us. We pause today to reflect on what might have been and remain saddened by the fact that he was taken from us in the summer of his years. The way to perpetuate his legacy is through his call to public service – placing one’s family, neighbors, community, state, and nation above oneself. He was a visionary president whose practical ideas foreshadowed the Civil Rights Act, environmental movement, a national commitment to public education, fair housing, Medicare and Medicaid, and women’s equality – something we are still striving to achieve today. Sixty-two years later, on this day of reflection, the best way to honor his memory is to commit to something bigger and more important than yourself.”
