Larson Statement on the Second Anniversary of the Attack on the Capitol

January 6, 2023

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the second anniversary of the January 6th attack on the United States Capitol.

“Two years ago, I watched as insurrectionists stormed the Capitol in an effort to dismantle our country’s peaceful transfer of power and change the outcome of a free and fair election,” said Larson. “Today, we remember the five police officers who lost their lives and honor the more than 140 who were injured defending our democracy.

“I commend the January 6th Committee’s bipartisan effort to uncover what led to the attack on January 6th and finding that former President Trump and his closest associates engaged in insurrection against the United States and our Constitution. The final report issued by the Committee contains several legislative recommendations to prevent another deadly attack, which I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pursue on a bipartisan basis,” Larson concluded.
