Larson Statement on Republicans Going Home with No Deal

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after Republicans sent Congress home after failing to pass the annual Defense spending bill.  

“Republicans have come back to Washington with the responsibility of passing legislation to fund the government, but they are more focused on shutting down government and impeaching the president," said Larson. "Instead of confirming our military officers, preserving Social Security, and addressing child poverty, my Republican colleagues are determined to create chaos. They have loaded these bills, including our nation’s defense funding, with their unpopular culture wars against women and the LGBTQ+ community, and are risking a government shutdown- potentially delaying payments like Social Security and veterans’ benefits- for their partisan games.”
