Larson Statement on President John F. Kennedy’s 108th Birthday

East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement remembering former President John F. Kennedy, on what would have been his 108th birthday.
“It is hard to believe that President John F. Kennedy would be 108 today,” said Larson. “Even though his service to our nation was tragically cut short, his bold vision and optimism still remain relevant today. I wear a special pin of President Kennedy, given to me by his daughter Caroline, on his 100th birthday in 2017, as a reminder of his call to public service. He used his privilege and power to create a vision for the benefit of all Americans, not just the wealthy few. President Kennedy was a once-in-a-generation leader who inspired and united the nation. He advanced a New Frontier that prioritized the virtues of national service, civil rights, and a goal to ensure health care for all Americans – leading to the creation of Medicare and Medicaid for the elderly and the most vulnerable among us. As the Irish like to say, he was ‘our guy,’ but even more so, he was a transformational president for the American people who brought out the best in each of us. Now, more than ever, it is his vision and leadership of the nation that must endure.”
