Larson Statement on the Passing of Tim Moynihan

March 1, 2020

Hartford, CT - Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the passing of former State Representative and Deputy Majority Leader Tim Moynihan. Moynihan was a highly regarded public servant having also served as the Chairman of the Board of Education in East Hartford, Chairman of the Connecticut Democratic Party, President of the Hartford Chamber of Commerce, and was a close ally of Governor Bill O'Neill.

"Tim Moynihan was a legendary leader in East Hartford. In my time in the General Assembly there was no one who was more respected or highly regarded than Tim Moynihan. He was a lifelong East Hartford resident and a mentor to so many people including myself. His leadership spread generations and had an enormous impact. He exemplified what it meant to be a public servant and put service before self. Tim epitomized what it meant to be a citizen legislator. While not a lawyer, he knew Connecticut state statutes better than anyone. He especially understood the nexus between law and the practicality of common sense application of a bill. My heart goes out to his wife Rosemary, who succeeded him in the General Assembly as another stellar public servant, and his children, Timothy, Susan, and Patrick, and their families."
