Larson Statement on the Passing of Congressman Raúl Grijalva

March 13, 2025

East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the passing of his friend and colleague, Rep. Raúl Grijalva of Arizona.

“I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and colleague, Rep. Raúl Grijalva,” said Larson. “He championed many issues during his time in Congress, from environmental justice to Social Security, and was deeply dedicated to serving his constituents. As co-chairs of the Expand Social Security Caucus, we worked together for years to protect and enhance the program 70 million Americans rely on to make ends meet. For decades, Raúl served his community at both the local and federal levels but never forgot what was most important – fighting for the people back home. His dedication to public service will be sorely missed. I send my deepest condolences to his wife Ramona, their three daughters Adelita, Raquel, and Marisa, and all his friends, staff, and constituents who are mourning this great loss.”
