Larson Statement on Deaths of World Central Kitchen Workers in Gaza
East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after seven humanitarian aid workers from the World Central Kitchen, including one American citizen, were killed in Gaza.
“My heart and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones in this horrific attack,” said Larson. “Humanitarian aid workers are essential to meeting the need of the millions of innocent civilians in Gaza who are facing extreme hunger and famine. They put their lives on the line to assist the most vulnerable, and it is outrageous that these workers were killed while conducting a humanitarian mission. I stand with President Biden in calling for a swift investigation and accountability.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu’s conduct in Gaza is unacceptable and fails to protect innocent civilians,” Larson continued. “I continue to reiterate my call for the fighting to end so that desperately needed aid can be delivered. The Netanyahu government should not resume military operations until they can ensure the protection of civilians and aid workers. I further commend President Biden for working on a long-term peace process that will put the region on the path to a two-state solution.”
