Larson Statement on Assassination Attempt of Former President Donald Trump

East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement in response to the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida. 

“We are all glad to hear that former President Trump is safe after yesterday’s assassination attempt,” said Larson. “We must always condemn all forms of violence. I thank the Secret Service and law enforcement officials for their quick action and ongoing work to ensure this matter is thoroughly investigated and the individual responsible is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Let this be a reminder of the need for Congress to act to address gun violence. It is long overdue that we pass universal background checks and an assault weapons ban to help prevent these senseless tragedies and keep all Americans safe.”
