Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01)joined Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, former Connecticut Secretary of the State Miles Rapoport, and E.J. Dionne of the Washington Post in Hartford for a discussion on implementing universal voting in the United States.

“It was an honor to join Denise, Miles, and E.J. today at Connecticut’s Old State House to discuss how universal voting will ensure we are reminded, and given the opportunity to participate in, our civic duty,” said Larson. Our democracy only works if The People vote. By embracing universal voting, our country can re-ignite the basis on which it was founded: the revolutionary idea that citizens should have a say in their government.

“We can transform our voting culture to fully embrace education, engagement, and accessibility,” Larson continued. As states across our country enact legislation that will hinder access to the ballot box, it is imperative we fight against these attacks and increase access and fervor for voting. I look forward to continuing to work with Miles and E.J. on this proposal.”
